We caught up with Ryan Baldwin after Saturday’s entertaining 2-2 draw with Birstall at Allard Way:

‘A point in a thrilling game against a very good Birstall side, in which we felt
deserved of all 3.

After a somewhat flat first half going in 1-0 down, we decided to change shape at
half time, with a bigger emphasis on attacking in numbers. This then ignited a spark
on the pitch, with lots of creativity leading to chance after chance. This was an
absolute credit to the lads’ adaptability and ability to take on information, to
play a formation we haven’t before.

We finally found the equaliser after Hamza found himself in behind to
win a penalty, which Sam Ellis dispatched for his return debut goal.
The message was then clear to push the 3 points and the next goal, in
which a bit of magic from the influential Sam Ellis again, did exactly
that. Some fantastic work down the left, found Sam in space to curl
one into the top corner.

In the dying seconds of the game, Birstall unfortunately equalised, who
we need to give credit to for pushing back after we scored our second.
It felt very tough to take, but looking at the bigger picture, it was a game
with so many positives to take, especially in the 2nd half. If we can continue
to create as many chances as we did yesterday, I’m confident with the group
we now have, we will see a string of good results coming up.

We look forward to seeing you all at home on Saturday vs Stapenhill. UTC!’
